Automatic Delivery or Will Call Delivery
- Automatic Delivery Customers are scheduled for delivery based on the weather (Degree Days), the customer’s tank size, the customer’s historical usage pattern, and our delivery routes for your neighborhood.
- Will Call Customers decide for themselves when their tank needs a delivery. This is not our preferred method for oil delivery because it costs the customer more and has many run-out risks; these risks include relying on an inaccurate tank gauge, calling the day before a snowstorm, calling the day after our truck was near your neighborhood, and others.
As a will-call customer, it is your responsibility to monitor the level in your tank. Our drivers are generally in your area once a week, some remote areas a little less often. It is important that will-call customers know their day of the week and give us adequate notice so that we can make sure you get routed for that day. If you need a delivery other than your normal routed day, we will make every effort to accommodate your needs, but if we have to pull a driver from another area or after hours, special trip charges beginning at $65.00 may apply.

Budget Plan
Our nine (9) month budget plan is for our customers who like the convenience of knowing from month to month the amount of their heating oil bill. This helps many people to effectively plan their household budgets. We have persons in virtually every walk of life using our budget plan so it has absolutely nothing to do with where you live or your income. This plan simply allows you to equalize your payments.
Eligibility for Budget Plan
Only those customers who have approved credit and whose accounts are in a current status are eligible for our budget plan. Once you have notified us that you have selected our budget plan, the first order of business is for us to estimate the amount of the upcoming season’s fuel oil bill for your home. This is normally done by using your account history. Once the number of gallons has been determined, this figure is multiplied by the projected cost of fuel oil. The resultant dollar figure is then divided by 9 to determine each of your monthly payments. Beginning in June, each payment is due by the 10th of each month. At the end of the nine months, which is May, you will receive a statement which will show you all of your charges and payments for the budget year just ended. Any balance due Benton Oil Service, Inc., is due by the 10th of June. Should the balance be in your favor, we will automatically apply it to your next season’s budget plan, or, if requested, refund the amount in full.
It should be noted that once a budget season has begun, a customer cannot select the budget plan until the following year. Also, your account is neither charged nor earns any interest on the outstanding balance. However, should you miss any two consecutive budget payments, your account automatically reverts back to a regular account status, and any balance becomes due immediately and is subject to our normal service charge.

Eliminate Wasted Energy
- Don’t heat areas of your house you don’t use regularly, such as guest rooms. Close heating vents or turn back thermostats in those areas and close the doors for a painless reduction in heating costs.
- Turn down the heat and use space heaters to heat the room you spend time in.
- Keep your furnace, heat pump, or other heating equipment in top operating condition. Dirty filters reduce the efficiency of your furnace or heat pump. Poorly tuned units are inefficient and use more fuel. An annual maintenance agreement is well worth the money to ensure that your equipment is properly maintained and will last as long as possible.
- Don’t turn your thermostat up above the desired temperature. It won’t heat up any more quickly and will make your furnace work harder. Also, while it makes sense to turn the heat back when you’re sleeping or not at home, turning it down too low can actually cost you more because the contents of the house have to be re-heated in addition to the air. 68 to 70 degrees while you’re home and awake, and 60 to 65% while you’re asleep or not at home are reasonable temperatures.
- Consider a programmable thermostat to raise and lower the temperature at pre-set times.
- Check the temperature setting on your hot water heater. If you have a dishwasher, your water should be heated to 120%. Otherwise, it can be somewhat lower.
- If your water heater is in an unheated space like an unfinished basement, wrap it in an insulation blanket available at hardware stores to prevent heat loss.
- Wash clothes in cold water whenever possible.
- It’s tempting to stand under a hot shower on a cold morning for as long as possible, but cutting your shower time in half can save up to 33% on your hot water heating costs.
